Fennel is effective to aid digestion and reduce gas,  as it relaxes the smooth muscle of the intestine. 

Fennel is a mild enough that in the appropriate dose it’s safe to give to children, babies, and nursing mothers. Fennel is often used to stimulate normal milk production in nursing mothers. 

Fennel can be used in soups, stews, roasted meats, vegetables and sausages. 

For cosmetic applications, fennel can be used to infuse oils for homemade soaps and is a common natural flavoring for mouthwashes and toothpaste.
